Bodrum, located along Turkey’s southwestern Aegean coastline, is one of the country’s most popular summer resort destinations. Known for its turquoise waters, historic sites, luxury resorts, and vibrant nightlife, the region sees a significant influx of private jet traffic—especially between April and October. If you’re planning a business aviation trip to Bodrum, here’s what you need to know about operating into Milas-Bodrum Airport (LTFE).

Milas-Bodrum Airport (LTFE)

Milas-Bodrum Airport (LTFE) is the sole airport serving the Bodrum region for civil aviation and is the exclusive option for business aviation traffic into the area. Located approximately 36 kilometers (22 miles) from the city center, LTFE is open 24/7 with no airport curfews, making it accessible and operationally flexible year-round.

LTFE is a slot-coordinated airport, and all arrivals and departures must have confirmed airport slots. Operators should secure slot approvals as early as possible—especially during peak season—to avoid schedule disruptions.

PPR (Prior Permission Required) is not applicable at LTFE. However, due to high demand during the summer months, coordination with local authorities is still recommended for certain operations.

Parking is generally available for short-term stays of two to three days. For longer stays, especially during the high season from April through October, availability becomes more limited. Universal Türkiye can work with airport authorities to secure extended parking or special ferry flight permissions with at least one week’s advance notice.

Handling

Ground Handling Services:
Milas-Bodrum is served by three major ground handling companies, all operating to international standards. Universal Aviation Türkiye works with its preferred provider to ensure efficient and seamless service for private operators.

Equipment:
All standard handling equipment is available, including tow bars, GPUs, lavatory service units, and air stairs. Operators are not required to bring their own tow bars.

FBO and Lounge Facilities:
LTFE has a dedicated General Aviation Terminal (GAT), operated by TAV, offering comfortable lounges, expedited CIQ processing, and VIP services. Universal Türkiye provides full Representation, Supervision, and Management services on-site.

Ground Transportation

For VIP travelers, the recommended mode of transport is a pre-arranged chauffeured vehicle, such as a Mercedes S-Class or VIP minivan. Taxis are available upon request, but rideshare services like Uber are not currently active in the region. Metro or train services are not available.

Fuel Availability

Jet A-1 fuel is available 24/7 at LTFE. Per airport regulations, fueling is only permitted on the day of departure. Due to possible congestion during the summer, operators should send fuel requests (F/R) in advance to Universal Türkiye for coordination and timely scheduling.

Inflight Catering

Inflight catering is available through approved local providers. However, due to health and safety regulations, storage of catering at the airport is not allowed.

  • Order lead time: New requests should be submitted at least 24 hours in advance. Revisions can be made up to 12 hours prior to departure.

Customs and Immigration

Upon arrival, passengers are met by a Universal staff member and escorted directly to the GAT for CIQ processing.

  • CIQ process: Typically takes up to 20 minutes from aircraft arrival to vehicle departure.
  • Escort: A Universal staff member stays in contact with ground transportation to ensure a smooth pickup.

Security

Milas-Bodrum Airport provides 24/7 security via police, airport security staff, CCTV monitoring, and perimeter fencing.

  • Private Security: Armed private security is not permitted airside. Unarmed third-party aircraft security can be arranged if requested in advance.

Peak Season and High-Traffic Events

Bodrum’s peak season runs from April through October, with the busiest months being June through August. During this time, the airport sees a sharp increase in commercial charter, domestic holiday, and private jet traffic.

Key congestion periods to note:

  • Eid al-Adha: June 6–9, 2025 – Expect very high passenger volumes and limited parking availability.

Early coordination and advance planning are strongly advised for flights during peak season or around major holidays.

Weather Considerations

Bodrum has a classic Mediterranean climate, with:

  • Summer (June–August): Hot and dry, often exceeding 34°C (93°F)
  • Winter (December–February): Mild and wetter, averaging 10–15°C (50–59°F)

Weather rarely causes operational disruption, though summer heat can impact performance planning.

Conclusion

Milas-Bodrum Airport (LTFE) is well-equipped to handle private aviation traffic year-round. With 24/7 operations, a dedicated GA terminal, and a strong ground handling infrastructure, it offers a seamless and efficient experience for operators flying into Turkey’s summer playground. Planning ahead—especially during the high season—ensures smooth ground services, parking, and fueling for your operation.

Universal Aviation Türkiye has an office on-site at LTFE to support your flights with local expertise and full-service supervision. Their team is ready to assist with everything from slot coordination and extended parking to fueling, handling, and CIQ facilitation.
