Cayman Islands: 2025 Business Aviation Destination Guide

The Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the western Caribbean, offers pristine beaches, vibrant marine life, and a welcoming atmosphere for business and leisure travelers. Comprising three islands—Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman—the Cayman Islands provide world-class facilities and a growing infrastructure to support business aviation. Owen Roberts International Airport (MWCR) in George Town is the main gateway for business aviation, offering enhanced ground services and operational flexibility.
Primary Airports
- Owen Roberts International Airport (MWCR): Located 3 km (2 miles) from George Town, MWCR is the primary airport for business aviation traffic.
- Charles Kirkconnell International Airport (MWCB): Situated on Cayman Brac, MWCB accommodates general aviation traffic but at a lower volume than MWCR.
- Edward Bodden Airfield (MWCL): A smaller airport primarily serving domestic and light aircraft traffic.
Owen Roberts International Airport (MWCR)
MWCR operates from 06:00 to 21:00 local time. Arrivals and departures outside these hours are not permitted unless prior permission is obtained. Slots are mandatory and should be requested at least 48 hours in advance.
Enhanced Ground Services
MWCR recently expanded its offerings with the addition of Cayman Dispatch Services (CDS) as a new ground handling option. Fully operational as of June 2024, CDS supports business aviation with its own dedicated ground support equipment and exclusive access to the General Aviation Terminal (GAT).
CDS has significantly improved passenger turn times at MWCR, reducing them from over 45 minutes to approximately 15 minutes during arrivals and departures. CDS also leverages strong relationships with local authorities to streamline challenges like limited parking, slot availability, and customs processes. Their adherence to rigorous ground handling standards ensures efficient and reliable service for operators.
Operating Hours and Restrictions
